MUD FUCK
Bradford Meat Market

This is The ‘Fuck’s first UK date in a while, after their triumphant Scandinavian tour and the time off has reaped dividends. This is perhaps the most together I’ve ever seen them onstage, and the new songs are probably the best to emerge from the Death Metal / R ‘n’ B genre yet.

Jeff Kurad’s baritone sax is far more noticeable in the new material, suggesting that the band are moving more towards the R ‘n’ B end of their sound, partly thanks to new guitarist Jeremy’s Steve Cropper meets Steve Vai guitar licks. The next single ‘All That Glitters’ is a glam / porn soundtrack hybrid and could be the record to catapult Sutton Coldfield’s finest into the nation’s consciousness.

Which isn’t to say they neglect the old material. ‘Off Yer Face’, ‘Give Us Your Car’ and ‘Burn, Burn, Burn’ are present, as are reworked versions of songs from the doomed concept project ‘Foetus Pullover’.

This time next year they’ll be huge.

Tim and Malcolm.
